Agribusiness

Around 26% of Papua New Guinea’s GDP is derived from agriculture. According to the World Bank, agriculture is the second largest contributor (17%) to PNG’s total export earnings after minerals (77%).

Palm oil, which accounts for 51% of total agriculture exports, is the largest contributor, followed by coffee, cocoa, and copra and copra oil.

PNG’s climate and high seasonal rainfall, good quality soil and low-intensity farming methods, make for a favourable environment for agricultural activities
